the mixed media collection.

started out as a 100 day project in 2025;

attempting to represent movement of the sun and her relationship with the plants in our garden

and so highlighting our issues with climate change in a subtle way.

I would trace the shadow of a plant in our garden each day.

The spot for tracing the shadows was fixed on the fence for each cardinal direction S,W,N,E.

The time of day for tracing the shadows was also defined for each direction.

For the material I would use materials found in our recycling bin.

So I had no idea which material would be used in advance.

After some time, I realised that the parameter for this project were not well defined so I abandoned it.

The project left me with a stash of botanical shapes;

Late last year, I decided to take these shapes as a starting point for collage.

Black was the only colour to be used,

yet I wanted them to be fun and playful.

Firstly my stash of materials needed to grow.

So I created line work on recycled book pages

and experimented with mono prints on recycled paper.
Substrates for my collages were recycled

canvas or board.(I wanted to be sustainable)

These were a joy to create!

So I added shadow gardens, tidelines and rock pools to form a unique and fun collection

of mixed media pieces.
